Alex Allmont
Research Software Engineer
Alex comes from a software industry background where performance and stability are paramount. His career began following a youthful interest in film and 3D graphics to work with games, animation and CAD companies, before more recently transitioning to scientific and medical technology.
It was at Oxford Nanopore - creating microfluidic control software for rapid development of lab protocols - where Alex discovered his enthusiasm for collaboration with researchers and scientists, creating new systems whilst bringing good software discipline to bear.

Along with teaching OxRSE and introductory Rust material, Alex is an NVIDIA Ambassador for the University and currently teaches Fundamentals of Accelerated Computing with Modern CUDA C++.
Outside of work, Alex's art and music interaction projects have featured in Music Tech Fest, Wired Magazine, Festival of The Spoken Nerd and The Museum of The History of Science.
