Dr. Jack Leland
Senior Research Software Engineer
Jack has a background in computational physics and software engineering, working as part of the support team for the Schmidt AI in Science Fellowship at the university.
After working as a software developer in industry, Jack completed a PhD in Fusion Plasma Physics in 2021 at the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy where he found a love for developing software tools for facilitating research. Following this he spent a number of years working as a Software Developer at CEDA (the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis) on the JASMIN supercomputer, before joining the Oxford Research Software Engineering team in 2024 to get back closer to research.
Jack specialises in backend web development, high performance computing, and bringing modern software engineering & dev-ops practices to the research environment.
